Apr 17, 2018Lamoni Specialty Care in Lamoni.Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11, at Slade- O’Donnell Funeral Home, 103 NE Mill St., in Leon with Matthew Novotny officiating. Visitation was from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday. Burial was in Metier Cemetery near Leroy.Mamie Marie Roberts, daughter of Samuel Hoyt and Mamie Fetty (Elliott) Moxley, was born June 25, 1923, in Hillsboro. Mamie graduated from Weldon High School in 1941. On May 9, 1942, she married John Lee Roberts. Mamie and John farmed in the Leroy area. Later, they spent many winters in Florida.Over the years, Mamie was a member of the Federated Women’s Club in Decatur County, Presbyterian Church in Leroy, where she taught Sunday school and helped with the youth group, and Riveria Country Club in Ormond Beach, Florida. Mamie is survived by her grandchildren, Shanda (Michael) Hiatt of Osceola, Kelli Price (friend Bobby Brown) of Osceola, Kim Hepner of Osceola, Tina (Lee) Svanda of Slovenia, Brian Roberts of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Nathan Roberts of Everett, Washington, Nick Roberts of Hayesville, Kansas, Reeb Roberts of Hayesville, Kansas, Andrew Roberts of Quincy, Illinois, and Matthew Roberts of Quincy; many great-grandchildren; brother Larry (Joanne) Simmerman of Moberly, Missouri; nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.Mamie was preceded in death by her parents; husband John on Jan. 16, 1994; sons, Steven on June 14, 1982, and Gary on Oct. 18, 2000; grandson Ricky Dean and siblings, Virgil Moxley, Virginia McKern and Charles Moxley.
